Resurgence of the personal blogger

We are undoubtedly living through some of the strangest times, and the internet has not been left unscathed. RIP Tumblr, once a place where freedom of speech was lauded, now all tied up thanks to the government, and, you guessed it, advertising revenue. People are leaving Facebook in droves. Instagram has an insane new “sexual solicitation policy” which prohibits anything mildly racy. (Bad news for anyone who works in sexuality, or — gasp — likes to share scantily-clad photos.) And what even is Twitter these days?! When Twitter is how the pumpkin in chief chooses to communicate, you know it’s o-v-e-r! 💀 I’ve been thinking a lot about what will happen when social media dries up for good, so I sat down and recorded a quick (13 minute) podcast for you. My secret hope? The return of personal websites! 🙏🏼💕 Go to galadarling.com/blog to listen or just click the link in my profile! 🎧✨

So, Gala Darling pointed out today with all the bull shit happening with Tumblr, Instagram/Facebook, and Twitter its time to reclaim our content and go back to personal blogging.

When she mentioned that the people she liked most are always trying to sell her something, I felt that. I too, being a South Node Scorpio, follow a lot of people who embrace their sexuality online. It doesn’t matter if they are a baddie, sex worker, or Gala herself. That’s the tribe I feel closest to.

While explaining this to my husband, he pointed out that George Carlin correctly predicted everything after his death. This greatly upset me. How the fuck are you going to tell us the problem without offering a solution?! As a WOC, I’m automatically ignored. I vote and I sign petitions and I contribute to the global community by not wreaking havoc and making sure to raise my children responsibly. What else can I do?

For now, I’m combing through my favorite posts on various social media account and preparing them into drafts for this blog. I hope you’ll stick around and see what else I have to offer.

Right now I’m in the ‘About Me’ stage. I’m posting content that reflects my genuine self. This way, when you bitches try to dig through my archives, you can see I was 💯 from the start.
